A great idea some buyers I worked with had when they were considering moving to Gainesville was that for about a year prior to their move they subscribed to a number of area publications. To that end I wanted to create a short listing of some of Gainesville's publications that someone considering moving to Alachua County would find useful. Many of these publications cover surrounding areas as well, not just Gainesville. You can also read their online versions and get caught up on the local news.

Home Magazine, Living in the Heart of Florida, (352) 372-5854. Award winning magazine focused on news and events affecting Gainesville and Alachua County. Their mission is to be a leading lifestyle publication in the Gainesville communications industry, while giving back to those who consider the heart of Florida home. By providing relevant information to enhance our community’s well being, we value the opportunity to entertain, educate and inspire you-- our neighbors.

The Gainesville Sun- Gainesville's daily newspaper is published 7 days a week and available for delivery or online. Call the Customer Service department at 352-378-1416 or 1-800-443-9493 for more information.

The North Central Florida Business Report- This newspaper is published monthly and covers all aspects of business throughout Gainesville and North Florida including new developments, recent commercial real estate transactions, new businesses in the area and a monthly events calendar.

The Independent Florida Alligator-1105 West University Avenue Gainesville Florida 32601. (352) 376-4458. This daily tabloid has a long and storied past. Once affiliated with the University of Florida, as its' name suggests, it is now independent. Free and distributed throughout Gainesville, the Alligator offers National, local and campus news as well as editorials, classified and display advertising.

Alachua County Today- 14804 Main Street, Alachua Florida. (386) 462-3355. The Alachua County Today Online Edition is the online edition of Alachua County Today, a weekly paper covering all of the Alachua County, Florida area, including the cities of Alachua, Archer, Gainesville, Hawthorne, High Springs, LaCrosse, Micanopy, Newberry and Waldo.

The North Florida Herald- 5 NW First Street, High Springs Florida 32643. (386) 454-1297. The High Springs Herald's coverage area encompasses communities of contrasts, where growth meets rural areas, where hi-tech sits at one end of a major highway and some of the state¹s largest parks and farms sit at the other. Don't let the words "High Springs" in The High Springs Herald fool you, either. The Herald¹s circulation zone spans much of North Central Florida, from the city of Alachua, a hi-tech hotspot with an interstate interchange, to Newberry, a farming and bedroom community that likely will be one of the state's fastest growing cities over the next 10 years.
