Gainesville Orchestra- PO Box 357011 Gainesville Florida 32635. Made up of local and regional Professional musicians, the orchestra has been able to bring a consistent level of high quality performance to the community. Each season includes full scale Orchestral performances, world premieres, chamber music concerts, outreach performances to "underserved" communities, and local schools, as well as the Annual "walk thru the orchestra" family concert. The orchestra has striven to open the doors of great Symphonic Music to the entire community, often for free, but always at an affordable price. Most importantly, unlike the many guest Artists that pass through the Center for the Performing Arts, the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra is able to be an integral and interactive part of the community.

The Gainesville Civic Chorus- PO Box 5205 Gainesville FL 32627 The Gainesville Civic Chorus began its existence under the direction of Elwood Keister in 1976 as the Bicentennial Choir, and played a major role in the community's celebration of the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Members re-formed as the Gainesville Civic Chorus the following year. The Chorus is committed to the cultural enrichment of the Gainesville community. It has gained recognition by both the City Commission and the Alachua County Commission as the community's official chorus. Among the sixty members are retired citizens, business persons, university professors, professional musicians and others from many walks of life.

Gainesville Community Band- PO Box 147050 Gainesville Florida 32614. (352) 472-7224. The Band was founded in 1974 with eleven members. In 1978, the Gainesville City Commission passed a resolution designating the GCB as the Official Community Band of Gainesville. With a current a roster of about 80 members, the Band is made up of teachers, professors, scientists, business professionals, students, physicians, contractors, realtors, tradespeople, and retirees.

 

Gainesville Friends of Jazz- PO Box 12769 Gainesville Florida 32604. (352) 379-0300. Founded in 1983, the mission of Gainesville Friends of Jazz is to support, promote and increase public awareness, interest, participation and education in jazz, America's music.

Alachua County Youth Orchestra- PO Box 14313 University Station Gainesville Florida 32604. The ACYO is currently the only full orchestral experience for the youth of Alachua County. The orchestra has been in existence for over 30 years providing free concerts for the residents of Alachua and the surrounding Counties. The orchestra usually provides or participates in five concerts a year; Winter concert, Stop Children’s Cancer Concert, Spotlight on Youth, Spring Concert, and the Meet the Orchestra/Fifth Grade Concert. It may participate in other events as opportunities arise. Membership in the orchestra is through auditions held each fall. The orchestra is a Not-For-Profit 501c3 corporation run by a board of directors composed primarily of parent volunteers. Support for the orchestra has come from state, county and city grants, private donations, and annual dues paid by the members.
