Kanapaha Botanical Gardens- 4700 S.W. 58th Drive Gainesville Florida 32608. (352) 372-4981. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens is comprised of 24 major collections visually accessible from a 1 ½ mile paved walkway. These include the state's largest public display of bamboos and the largest herb garden in the Southeast. Some of Kanapaha's gardens are organized taxonomically; others demonstrate principles of ecology or natural selection. Kanapaha's signature plants include a premier stand of Chinese royal bamboo (Wong Chuk), and--during the warm months--giant Victoria water lilies and Asian snake arums. Gainesville Garden Club, Inc. was founded on September 11, 1924 and became federated in May of 1927.  Circles were organized in 1930. We currently have 15 circles making up a membership in excess of 350. The facility is available for special functions.

The Teaching Zoo is operated as a part of Santa Fe College's Zoo Animal Technology Program; it is the premier wild animal technology program in the United States. Supervised by the professional staff of the Teaching Zoo, the students get hands-on experience in every aspect of wild animal care, from daily care to habitat construction and maintenance, and working with the public.
